Meeting of the Economics, Energy and Innovation Committee of the Baltic Assembly

On 28 February 2014 in Riga meeting of the Economics, Energy and Innovation Committee of the Baltic Assembly was held. During the meeting three main priority issues were discussed. Firstly, development of the Rail Baltic/Rail Baltica project was analysed. Minister of Transport of Lithuania Rimantas Sinkevičius, Minister of Transport of Latvia Anrijs Matīss and Advisor to the Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Indrek Sirp informed on the governmental activities in development of the Rail Baltic/Rail Baltica Project. Secondly, the progress in cooperation of the Baltic States in regard to the regulation and supervision of the financial sector was discussed. Representatives from the Latvian Financial and Capital Market Commission informed on the progress in cooperation of the Baltic States in regulation and supervision of the financial sector. Thirdly, participants of the meeting focussed on the development of the single Baltic environment for innovation by analysing national innovation policies, current and future global challenges to innovation development as well as regional coordination in supporting development of innovation in the Baltic Region.
