Joint meeting of the Committees of the Baltic Assembly

On 1 April 2016 in Rēzekne (Latvia), joint meeting of the Education, Science and Culture Committee and Legal Affairs and Security Committee of the Baltic Assembly was held.

Members of the national parliaments of the Baltic States, governmental and academic representatives discussed possible establishment of joint Baltic training programme for security agencies, based on the example of Frontex programme and protection of the European values in the Baltic information space as well as centralised defence of critical Baltic internet resources against distributes denial-of-service.

Representatives of Rēzekne Academy of Technology informed about the Frontex Joint Master’s Programme. Jointly with Latvian Minister of Interior Mr Rihards Kozlovskis, Lithuanian Vice Minister of Interior Mr Artūras Norkevičius and Deputy Director of the Estonian Police and Border Guard College of the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences, parliamentarians discussed possibility to establish joint Baltic training programme for security agencies.

Protection of European values in the Baltic information space was jointly discussed with Director of the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence Mr Jānis Sārts, Chairman of the Board of the State Joint-Stock Company "Latvia State Radio and Television Centre" Mr Jānis Bokta,  Data transmission division manager of the "Latvia State Radio and Television Centre" Mr Didzis Ozoliņš, Adviser of the Cyber Security and Information Technology Department of the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence Mr Vytautas Paul Butrimas and former Member of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board Mr Mart Savioja.
