The first meeting of the Working Group on Sustainable Tourism of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference

On 12-13 November 2015 in Rostock (Germany), the first meeting of the Working Group (WG) on Sustainable Tourism of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference was held. Participants of the WG discussed economic, ecological, social and cultural aspects related to sustainable tourism. The WG aim is to identify, where further action is needed, typical measures, assessing the achievements made to identify gaps and needs for measures to promote sustainable tourism in the Baltic Sea Region. The primary outcome of the activities of the WG will form the basis for the political recommendations that the WG is expected to present at the 25th and 26th BSPC.

Sustainable tourism is one of BSPC priorities for 2015-2016. The idea to launch the WG on Sustainable Tourism was discussed during the meeting of the BSPC Standing Committee on 29 May 2015. During the 24th BSPC, the proposal to launch the WG was adopted according to para 56 of the BSPC Resolution (more information on www.bspc.net).

Delegation of the Baltic Assembly was represented by Mr Veiko Spolītis (Latvia), Mr Linas Balsys (Lithuania) and Mr Andre Sepp (Estonia).
