The 38th Session of the Baltic Assembly and 25th Baltic Council

On 28-29 November 2019 in Riga, parliamentarians and governmental representatives of the Baltic States met for the 38th Session of the Baltic Assembly and the 25th Baltic Council to discuss current affairs and cooperation of the Baltic States, common energy market, synchronisation of the Baltic electricity networks with the continental European network, common Baltic electricity market vis-à-vis third countries (Ostravets NPP), development of the "Rail Baltica" project, Baltic cooperation in higher education and health care, and the Baltic hydrogen perspective.

The 38th Session of the Baltic Assembly was opened by the Speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece, President of the Riigikogu Henn Põlluaas and Speaker of the Seimas Viktoras Pranckietis.

Within framework of the Session, the 25th Baltic Council, a cooperation platform for of the Baltic Assembly and the Baltic Council of Ministers, was convened. Members of the Baltic Assembly jointly with representatives of the Baltic Council of Ministers evaluated the implementation of the joint priorities of 2019 and defined objectives of cooperation for 2020. The Council was chaired by President of the Baltic Assembly Jānis Vucāns and Chair of the Cooperation Council of the Baltic Council of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.

During the 38th Session of the Baltic Assembly, Final Document, Resolution and Joint Statement of the 25th Baltic Council were adopted. Also, during the Session Decision on the Amendments to the Regulations on the Baltic Assembly Prizes for Literature, the Arts and Science was adopted.
