On 26-27 February 2026, the meeting of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee will be held in Tallinn, Estonia. The meeting will primarily touch on joining forces in environmental monitoring and research, and deepening cooperation in energy efficiency and sustainable urban development.
Joining forces of the Baltic States in environmental monitoring and research
Chaired by Tiit Maran, Chair of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee, the first session of the meeting will focus on joining forces in environmental monitoring and research. This session will involve discussions on shared tools and technologies that enable cross-border cooperation, including real-time monitoring systems, green technology incubators, and proactive management. Additionally, Kristaps Cīrulis, CEO and Partner at the Baltic Sustainability Awards, will provide an introduction to the Baltic Sustainability Report.
Deepening cooperation of the Baltic States in energy efficiency and sustainable urban development
The second session of the meeting, chaired by Tiit Maran, will touch on deepening cooperation in energy efficiency and sustainable urban development. Participants will discuss coordinated urban planning approaches, knowledge exchange on planning, financing, and citizen engagement, as well as the possibilities of regional training programmes for urban planners and energy managers. Additionally, Rune Midtun, Member of the Committee for a Sustainable Nordic Region, will share international experience of the Nordic Council.
