Parliamentarians of the Baltic Seas states discuss deepening collaboration with the EU, the CBSS and HELCOM


On 5-6 March 2023, the meeting of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference (BSPC) Standing Committee was held in Brussels (Belgium).  The main topic of the meeting was current geopolitical situation and strengthening the resilience of maritime ecosystems.

The BSPC Standing Committee learned about the recent activities of the European Parliament and its close partner organisations, the Council of the Baltic Sea States and the Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission (HELCOM), as well as about the work of the European Union Commission’s DG MARE with a focus on the current geopolitical situation and on strengthening the resilience of maritime ecosystems. During the meeting, the parliamentarians were also preparing for the annual conference in Berlin on 27-29 August and considering the next working group to investigate an urgent topic of interest. 

The Baltic Assembly in the event was represented by Vice President Jānis Vucāns and Member of the Security and Defence Committee Andrius Mazuronis.
