On 6 February 2026, the Presidium of the Baltic Assembly met in Vilnius, Lithuania, and adopted the statement "On Greenland and the Future of Democracy in Europe." The Members noted that the Baltic Assembly fully stands in solidarity with the Nordic region,
highlighted that the Baltic States stand firmly for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Denmark, as well as are committed to developing further joint steps by the European Union to protect democracy in Europe;
reminded that all decisions on Greenland belong exclusively to the people of Greenland
and Denmark;
emphasised that the Baltic States and the Nordic countries continue to demonstrate unwavering unity during these challenging times, standing together in support of one another and reaffirming their shared commitment to democratic values;
underscored the importance of the United States and the Kingdom of Denmark being part of NATO, thus ensuring a platform for addressing challenges related to the security of Greenland and the whole Arctic region;
called the Member States of the European Union to uphold unity in position and action, supported by consistent communication and ongoing direct dialogue with the United States, while maintaining unwavering support and consistent focus on Ukraine.
