Committee of the Baltic Assembly to discuss reaching climate neutrality in the Baltic States

On 8 April 2022, the meeting of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee of the Baltic Assembly will take place in Tallinn, Estonia. During the meeting, parliamentarians, governement representatives and experts will focus on the environmental challenges in the Baltic region and discuss such topics as the vision for zero carbon emissions in the Baltic region, including recent developments and the long-term cooperation strategy. Another topic discussed will be the recent developments and a way forward in regards to the joint recycling projects to speed up reaching climate neutrality in the Baltic States. Lastly, the governmental represenatives will report about the implementation of the recommendations of the Baltic Assembly in 2021 and elaborate the plans for 2022 regarding Latvia and Lithuania joining the London Protocol to the Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matter, as well as a common Baltic approach and measures to eliminate “waste tourism”.
