"We, the members of the Presidium of the Baltic Assembly, appalled by the recent outrageous and inhuman activities of the Russian Federation

firmly condemn the plans to hold illegal referendums in the occupied territories of Ukraine, violations of the international humanitarian law concerning the prisoners of war; and violent oppression of the Russian protesters unwilling to participate in the Kremlin’s unjustified and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine;

strongly urge the international community not to recognize the results of the illegal referendums planned by the Russian Federation and any passports of the country issued in the occupied territories of Ukraine;

call for immediate efforts to make the Russian Federation comply with international legal and humanitarian obligations regarding the treatment of prisoners of war;

impress the Russian Federation to recognize the unwillingness of the Russian people to participate in a senseless war that has already cost the lives of countless Ukrainians and Russians and accept defeat in Ukraine."
