Winners of the 2025 Baltic Assembly Prize in Literature, the Arts and Science

The winners of the 2025 Baltic Assembly Prize in Literature, the Arts and Science have been announced following the meeting of the Joint Jury on 3 October 2025. After thorough deliberations, the jury chose the laureates for their outstanding contributions to the cultural, artistic and scientific life of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, highlighting the value of collaboration and the shared heritage uniting the Baltic nations.

Baltic Assembly Prize 2025 Winners

Literature: 

Mr Tomas Andrius Venclova, poet, essayist, literary critic and translator, for his latest book of poetry “Už Onos ir Bernardinų”

The Arts: 

Mr Kaspars Putniņš, conductor, for his performance with the Latvian Radio Choir in the concert program “The Dream Stream”, held within the framework of the Baltic Music Days on 31 March 2023 in the Great Hall of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music

Science: 

Dr Eva Piirimäe, Professor of Political Theory, University of Tartu, for her monograph “Herder and Enlightenment Politics” (published in 2023)

Joint Jury of the Baltic Assembly

The Joint Jury, composed of experts from each of the Baltic States, ensured a balanced and thorough selection process. The jury members included Ieva Kolmane, Dace Bluķe, Maija Kūle (Chair of the Joint Jury), Svetlana Grigorjeva, Tüüne-Kristin Vaikla, Kadri Simm, Donata Mitaitė, Ramutė Rachlevičiūtėa and Valdemaras Razumas. 

Purpose of the Baltic Assembly Prize

Established to recognise and support excellence in literature, the arts and science, the Baltic Assembly Prize fosters collaboration among the Baltic States. The Prize highlights shared cultural values and promotes dialogue about intellectual and cultural advancements across the region. It serves to inspire the next generation of writers, artists and scientists in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.

Award Ceremony

The Baltic Assembly Prizes 2025 Award Ceremony will take place during the 44th Session of the Baltic Assembly on November 13-14, in Riga, Latvia. The winners will receive a monetary award, a certificate and a statuette, in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

The Baltic Assembly Prize stands as a symbol of unity, continually strengthening the cultural and intellectual bonds between Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, while inspiring future generations to enrich the fields of literature, the arts and science.
